CHINIOT, Jan 9 (APP):Deputy Director Operations of food authority Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza said on Friday that food safety teams in Chiniot have stepped up inspections to ensure the public has access to healthy and safe food.
According to APP correspondent, in a series of checks, 118 businesses were inspected, and fines were imposed on those violating food safety laws. Dr. Muhammad Qasim led the efforts, focusing on milk quality and hygiene standards.
Over 8,000 liters of milk were checked at 58 milk trucks and various sale points, resulting in Rs 59,000 in fines for law violators. The inspections revealed poor cleanliness and storage practices, with expired items found in sweets, bakeries, and grocery stores.
The authorities took immediate action, destroying over 2 liters of expired cold drinks and more than 5 kg of expired products. Dr. Raza emphasized the importance of compliance with food safety regulations, urging businesses to prioritize public health.
The food safety teams vowed to continue their crackdown, ensuring the public’s right to safe and healthy food is protected.
