ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 (APP):With only 8 days remaining before the  January 15 deadline, authorities in Islamabad have urged vehicle owners to complete M-Tag registration to avoid problems after the cutoff date.
Official data shows that 135,334 vehicles have already been registered, while 2,908 vehicles completed registration in the last 24 hours, indicating steady public response as the deadline approaches.
The M-Tag system has been introduced to streamline vehicle movement and toll-related processes in the federal capital. Officials have clarified that vehicles without M-Tag may face restrictions after January 15, making timely registration essential for daily commuters and commercial vehicle owners.
According to the administration, facilitation and registration centres across Islamabad remain fully operational. These centres are providing on-site assistance to ensure that the process is completed smoothly. Citizens are being guided at each step, from document verification to tag installation, to reduce delays and overcrowding.
Authorities stated that the registration process requires only basic documents. Vehicle owners must present their vehicle registration card or book along with the national identity card of the owner. Officials said that no additional paperwork is required, and the process can be completed within a short time at designated centres.
The administration has also increased awareness efforts through public notices and digital campaigns to ensure that residents are informed about the remaining time. Officials said that the goal is to register as many vehicles as possible before the deadline to prevent inconvenience on major roads and entry points after 15 January.
Traffic management officials noted that M-Tag registration supports better traffic flow and monitoring in the capital. They added that timely compliance by citizens will help authorities manage road use more effectively and reduce delays at checkpoints and toll locations.
Citizens have been advised not to wait until the final days, as a higher number of visitors is expected closer to the deadline. Officials warned that last-minute rush could lead to longer waiting times, despite extended working hours at some centres.
The district administration reiterated its appeal for cooperation, stressing that early registration will ensure uninterrupted travel after the deadline.
