DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 05 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday said that lawyers have played a historic role in Pakistan’s democratic evolution, adding that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always supported the legal fraternity.
He stated this while speaking at a ceremony wherein he handed over grant cheques worth a total of Rs 4.5 million to the District Bar Association Dera Ismail Khan and the Tehsil Bar Associations of Daraban and Kulachi.
The governor expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Law for its cooperation and acknowledged the efforts of Member of the National Assembly Sardar Fatahullah Khan Miankhel for his active role in facilitating the grants. He said that lawyers of Dera Ismail Khan have made significant contributions to the enforcement of law and delivery of justice, noting that many prominent judges have belonged to the district.
Governor Kundi said that collective efforts were needed to promote peace, brotherhood, and effective resolution of public issues in the region.
During the ceremony, a cheque worth Rs 2.5 million was handed over to District Bar Association Dera Ismail Khan President Qaizar Khan Miankhel, while Kulachi Bar Association President Yasir Khan and Daraban Bar Association President Gul Rehman Khan received cheques worth Rs One million each.
The governor further assured that grants for Paroa and Paharpur Bar Associations would also be provided in the near future.
Addressing the gathering, District Bar Association President and PPP Divisional President Qaizar Khan Miankhel said that Governor Faisal Karim Kundi had earlier played a constructive role in resolving issues of the High Court Bar and the District Bar. He thanked the governor for extending financial assistance to both the district and tehsil bar associations, expressing confidence that further problems would also be addressed, as Dera Ismail Khan is the governor’s hometown.
The ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council member Sardar Hashmat Rehman Sadozai Advocate, District Bar General Secretary Sardar Adnan Saeed Sadozai, Sheikh Mehmood-ul-Hassan Advocate, Habibullah Khan Advocate, PPP District General Secretary Abid Awan Advocate, Peoples Lawyers Forum leader Shah Fahad Ansari Advocate, and Sardar Hizbullah Khan Gandapur Advocate, among others.
