Commissioner assumes charge, visits ongoing projects

SARGODHGA, Jan 03 (APP):Newly-appointed Commissioner Shaukat Ali assumed charge on Saturday and began reviewing ongoing development projects in the city.
Upon his arrival at the Commissioner’s Office, an introductory meeting was held with officers and staff. Without delay, the Commissioner proceeded to inspect major development projects launched under the initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Waseem, accompanied him during the visits.
The commissioner first visited the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology, Sargodha, where concerned officers briefed him on the progress of the project. He was informed that construction of the hospital building has been completed and finishing work is in its final stages. The administration stated that efforts are underway to make the emergency department and outpatient departments (OPDs) fully operational by January 31.
Currently, the OPD is functioning on a temporary basis, where 80 to 100 patients are examined daily by specialist cardiologists. Free medicines are also being provided. Officials informed the commissioner that around 10,000 patients have benefited from the facility so far.
Commissioner Shaukat Ali sought detailed information regarding patient treatment, types of cardiac diseases, diagnostic facilities, and availability of medicines. Engineers from IDEP also briefed him on the technical aspects of the project and stated that recruitment of doctors and other medical staff is in progress.
Later, the Commissioner inspected the Rs14 billion mega sewage project initiated by the Punjab government for Sargodha. He reviewed the upgradation work at the Sillanwali Disposal site, where WASA officials briefed him on project progress, drainage mechanisms, and completion timelines.
Commissioner Shaukat Ali also inspected ongoing beautification work on City Road and Kutchery Bazaar under the City Beautification Project.
