VEHARI, Jan 03 (APP):Police on Saturday arrested a family allegedly involved in a honey trap from Chichawatni following a complaint lodged by a local resident.
According to police,the victim,Ahmed was lured by a woman namely as Ayesha through repeated phone calls.
She persuaded him to meet her at a hotel in Vehari,where her mother and brother later appeared and threatened to implicate him in a false case unless he paid money.
Out of fear,Ahmed transferred more than Rs.300,000 to the family through an online payment application.
He later reported the incident to police,who traced the suspects using call records.
Police said investigations revealed that the entire family was involved in honey trapping and linked to several similar cases.
All suspects have been arrested while further investigation was underway.
