Iran-Pakistan media ties to strengthen, says Iranian Ambassador

ISLAMABAD, Jan 02 (APP):Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri, visited the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Headquarters on Friday, emphasizing the strong brotherly relations between Iran and Pakistan.
 He met with Managing Director APP Muhammad Asim Khichi to discuss cooperation in the media field.
Ambassador Amiri praised the Pakistani people for their affection towards Iran, stating that Pakistan and Iran are friends in times of need. He highlighted the countries’ shared history of standing together during difficult times, including Pakistan’s bravery during the war with India.

The Ambassador expressed Iran’s potential for collaboration with Pakistan, citing military exercises, trade, and cultural exchanges. He noted that trade between the two nations is currently $3.3 billion and aims to reach $10 billion annually.
Amiri also highlighted the importance of media cooperation, stating that Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and APP’s direct news exchange is crucial for expanding relations. He emphasized the need to tackle misinformation and strengthen people-to-people connections.
The Ambassador mentioned Iran’s efforts to enhance connectivity, including opening new border crossings and starting direct flights from Islamabad to Tehran. He invited Pakistani President to visit Iran soon, citing the recent high-level visits between the two countries.
APP Managing Director appreciated Iran’s support for Pakistan, particularly on the Palestine issue.  He pledged to enhance cooperation in trade, culture, and media, highlighting the significance of sacred places and pilgrimage in strengthening bilateral ties.
During the meeting, Executive Director APP, Sabeen Usman Khattak, Director Marketing Ali Raza Alvi, Deputy Director Diplomatic and Global Affairs Mudassar Iqbal and Official of Communication from Iran embassy, Hadi Gulraiz and Mr Habib were present in the meeting.
