ISLAMABAD, Jan 02 (APP):The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, comprising Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, and Justice Arshad Hussain Shah, passed an order on Thursday in a series of connected constitutional and miscellaneous matters, including Miscellaneous Application No.182/2025.
According to a press note released by the Press Information Department on Friday, the Miscellaneous Application was filed by the S.B Complex Owners Welfare Association, seeking re-investment of an amount lying with the Supreme Court of Pakistan following the transfer of the matter to the Federal Constitutional Court under the Constitution (Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Act, 2025.
During the hearing, the Court was informed by Ch. Aamir Rehman, Additional Attorney General for Pakistan, that a representative of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Mr Taha Sajjad (Head, Treasury), was present. The NBP representative apprised the Court that the last investment of the amount was made in Treasury Bills on September 4, 2025, which will mature on November 27, 2025. The amount had not been reinvested thereafter due to the absence of a court order.
In view of the above, the Court directed the Registrar of the Federal Constitutional Court to requisition the amount of Rs. 794,270,000 from the Supreme Court of Pakistan and ordered that the same be re-invested in Treasury Bills through the National Bank of Pakistan in accordance with the law.
The Court adjourned the matter and directed that it be re-listed in the first week of February 2026.
