FIA Lahore arrests 726 accused, recovers Rs3.77b in 2025

LAHORE, Jan 02 (APP): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone arrested 726 accused persons involved in various crimes during 2025, including 130 proclaimed offenders, according to its annual performance report.
A spokesperson for the FIA said that during the year, the Lahore Zone conducted 4,747 inquiries and registered 1,141 cases, while challans in 793 cases were submitted to courts of competent jurisdiction. As a result of effective investigation and prosecution, 112 accused were convicted by courts during 2025. The agency also recovered Rs3,769.49 million during the year.
The spokesperson said a special crackdown was launched against elements involved in illegal currency exchange and hawala-hundi. During 2025, FIA conducted 35 raids, arrested 58 accused, recovered foreign currency worth USD 14,724 and seized Rs122 million in local currency. The arrested accused were found involved in unlicensed currency exchange activities.
The FIA Lahore also arrested 32 officers of various government departments for corruption and malpractices. Under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 27 cases were registered, 13 accused were arrested, and challans in 20 cases were submitted to courts. In two money laundering cases, three accused were convicted.
The spokesperson said that 40 raids were conducted against copyright infringement, leading to the arrest of 53 accused. During the year, 465 accused involved in human smuggling and visa fraud were arrested, while recoveries amounting to Rs508.43 million were made from human smugglers and passport agents.
A special crackdown was also carried out against the mafia involved in illegal kidney transplantation, resulting in the arrest of 12 accused, who were taken into custody for investigation.
The spokesperson said indiscriminate action was continuing against elements involved in corruption and organized crime, and all available resources were being utilized to arrest offenders.
To prevent tragic incidents such as boat accidents, strict screening had initiated at all airports, while immigration officials had provided special training in passenger profiling. A special Immigration Information Office has been established in the Lahore Zone to guide citizens regarding overseas travel. An effective feedback mechanism has also been activated to improve complaint redressal.
He added that extensive awareness campaigns were conducted to curb human smuggling, while cooperation with relevant institutions has been further strengthened and expedited. Refresher training courses for investigation officers have also been formally launched to enhance professional capacity.
