Iran envoy greets Pakistan on new year 2026, cites 2025 as key year for bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD, Jan 01 (APP): As the New Year 2026 begins, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has extended greetings to the Government and people of Pakistan, stressing continued cooperation and closer relations between the two neighboring countries.
In his New Year message, the ambassador highlighted progress made during 2025 and expressed hope for further engagement in the year ahead.
The ambassador conveyed best wishes for health, stability, and success to Pakistan and its people. He thanked President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, members of the federal cabinet, the National Assembly, and the Senate for their role in strengthening bilateral relations.
He said the political commitment shown by Pakistan’s leadership helped advance cooperation and encouraged exchanges between the two sides.
He also acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s armed forces and security agencies, noting their cooperation in maintaining security along the shared border. The ambassador said joint efforts, particularly against terrorism, have supported stability in border regions.
Looking back at 2025, Ambassador Moghadam described the year as an important phase in Iran-Pakistan relations. He said ties reached a new level due to coordination between governments and support from the people of both countries.
During the year, Iran and Pakistan supported each other in regional and international forums, reflecting shared positions on key issues.
The envoy also referred to Pakistan’s support for Iran during the twelve-day war, stating that this support would be remembered by the Iranian people.
In his message, the ambassador expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries would continue to grow in 2026. He said both sides should work together for regional and global peace while focusing on mutual interests and respect.
He concluded by extending New Year greetings once again to the Government and people of Pakistan, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to stronger ties in the coming year.
