FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle recovers Rs110.25m, convicts 64 accused in 2025

ISLAMABAD, Jan 01 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency’s Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) Islamabad Zone recorded major progress against corruption during 2025, finalising hundreds of inquiries, securing dozens of convictions and recovering more than Rs110 million from corrupt practices.
An official told APP on Thursday that the FIA ACC Islamabad finalised 485 inquiries against various federal departments during the year, while 389 new inquiries were registered on the basis of complaints received from the public and government institutions.
During the same period, the circle registered 122 criminal cases against accused individuals from different federal departments and successfully finalised 67 cases, with challans submitted before the relevant courts, he said.
The official added that 132 accused persons were arrested in connection with corruption cases during 2025, while the agency also managed to recover Rs110.25 million through its enforcement and investigation efforts.
Highlighting major convictions secured during the year, the official said that Imran Ahmed Niazi, former prime minister of Pakistan, and Bushra Imran were sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment each and fined Rs16,425,650 each in the Toshakhana-II case on December 20, 2025.
He said Qamer Zaman was sentenced to 27 years’ imprisonment along with a Rs2 million fine in FIR No. 46/2020 on April 16, 2025, while Hamid Jalil received a 29-year sentence and a Rs20 million fine in FIR No. 45/2022.
According to the official, Nasim Masih was sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment and fined Rs100 million in FIR No. 30/2024 on July 10, 2025.
Overall, the FIA ACC Islamabad Zone convicted 64 accused persons in 20 different cases during the year, reflecting a strong conviction ratio and effective prosecution, he said.
The official said the performance of Federal Investigation Agency Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad during 2025 demonstrated its commitment, professionalism and resolve to combat corruption and ensure accountability within federal institutions./
