KAGHAN, Jan 01 (APP):The upper regions of Mansehra district on Thursday continued to experience intermittent snowfall, while rainfall in the low-lying areas has come to a halt. In the popular Kaghan Valley, tourist hotspot Shogran has recorded up to 6 inches of snow so far, Kaghan has seen over 2 inches, and in Naran, snow accumulation has reached nearly one and a half feet. The snowfall has significantly intensified the cold across the region.
In order to ensure smooth traffic flow and provide guidance to tourists, the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA), under the supervision of Director General Shabbir Khan, has deployed staff and machinery at multiple locations, including the Shogran Road, to clear the snow and prevent disruptions.
Speaking to the media, DG Shabbir Khan emphasized, “Our teams are working round the clock to ensure that the roads remain accessible. We urge tourists to exercise caution while traveling, especially on slippery roads, and to use iron chains on vehicle tires for safety.”
Tourists visiting the area expressed delight at the snowfall. One visitor from Islamabad, Ayesha Khan, said, “The snow-covered mountains are breathtaking. We are enjoying the weather but are careful while driving. The KDA staff have been very helpful in guiding us safely through the roads.” Another tourist, Ali Raza, added, “It’s our first time visiting Naran in winter. The snowfall is amazing, but it’s important that everyone follows the safety instructions to avoid accidents.”
Local businesses are also witnessing an increase in activity due to the influx of tourists. Hotels, restaurants, and local transport services reported higher demand, with visitors eager to experience winter sports and the scenic beauty of the valley.
Authorities have urged all travelers to strictly follow safety measures, including equipping vehicles with chains, avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy snowfall, and following traffic guidance issued by KDA personnel.
