RAWALPINDI, Jan 01 (APP):The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi remained on high alert on Thursday as intermittent rain continued across various parts of the city, with wardens deployed on major roads to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam directed supervisory officers to remain active in the field and ordered the deployment of additional personnel at underpasses and other sensitive points to prevent congestion and accidents.
According to the CTP spokesman, wardens were seen assisting road users during the rain while maintaining traffic discipline on busy arteries.
The CTO instructed all officers and personnel to work diligently to keep traffic moving despite adverse weather conditions.
He further directed circle officers to stay in constant coordination with the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and to immediately inform the relevant departments in case of water accumulation at any location.
Emphasising public safety, the CTO advised citizens, particularly traffic wardens, to keep a safe distance from electric installations during rainfall. He also instructed wardens to promptly respond to citizens’ calls for assistance during rainy conditions.
The CTP urged road users to exercise caution while driving in wet weather, advising them to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, avoid unnecessary overtaking and sudden braking, and refrain from stopping at low-lying areas or underpasses.
In case of any emergency, citizens were advised to contact the traffic police helpline at 051-9274843.
