RAWALPINDI, Dec 31 (APP): The City Traffic Police Murree deployed a heavy contingent of officers and personnel across the hill resort on the New Year’s Eve to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of tourists arriving from across the country.
On the directives of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir, additional traffic police personnel were positioned at key duty points, including all entry and exit routes, major arteries, bazaars and tourist locations, to facilitate visitors and prevent congestion.
According to the traffic police, the deployment was carried out under a comprehensive traffic management plan issued by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree Imran Razaq. Officers equipped with modern devices were performing duties at congestion-prone areas, parking zones and sensitive points to respond promptly to any emergency situation.
CTO Imran Razaq said the traffic police remained fully alert as a large influx of tourists was witnessed in the hill resort to celebrate the New Year’s Eve.
Maintaining traffic flow, preventing accidents and safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and tourists were the top priorities, he added, warning that action was being taken without discrimination against violators of traffic laws.
The CTO appealed to tourists and residents to observe traffic rules, avoid unnecessary parking and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel to ensure a safe, smooth and pleasant travel experience.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi chaired a meeting with a delegation of Anjuman-e-Tajran at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office to review arrangements for New Year’s Eve and possible snowfall.
Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner said Murree was an international tourist destination and all departments had been directed to remain vigilant and proactive. He directed representatives of Anjuman-e-Tajran to ensure cleanliness, adequate lighting and proper hospitality standards, and called for close cooperation with the administration to manage parking and traffic issues effectively.
