ITP impounds 616 motorcycles in 24 hours for lane violations

ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) impounded 616 motorcycles during the last 24 hours as part of a strict crackdown against bikers involved in lane violations to ensure smooth traffic flow and road safety in the federal capital.
An official told APP on Wednesday that ITP took action against lane violations and impounded 616 motorcycles in different police stations across the city during the last 24 hours. He said eight special traffic pickets have been set up at key points to prevent lane violations by bikers and improve traffic management.
The official said that lane violations by motorcyclists are extremely dangerous and can lead to serious and even fatal accidents, posing a threat to all road users.
He added that lane violations also affect traffic flow and create congestion on busy roads. The official said the crackdown against lane violations and wrong-way driving would continue.
He urged bikers to avoid lane violations and wrong-way driving, follow traffic rules and cooperate with traffic police to ensure their own safety and avoid legal action.
The official said ITP remain committed to maintaining smooth traffic flow and providing better facilities to citizens on roads, adding that public cooperation is essential.
