ISLAMABAD, Dec 30 (APP):More than 100,000 vehicles have received M-Tag since November 14, while action against non-tagged vehicles will begin on January 1.
With the deadline close, a large number of citizens are visiting M-Tag centers, where staff and stock have been increased to manage demand.
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has announced that enforcement against vehicles without M-Tag will start from January 1. The decision applies to all major entry points of the federal capital, where vehicles lacking the required tag will be stopped.
Officials said public response has increased as the deadline approaches. From November 14 to date, over 100,000 vehicles have been issued M-Tags. In the last 24 hours alone, 3,842 vehicles received tags, showing a steady rise in daily registrations.
To handle the growing number of applicants, the administration has expanded arrangements at M-Tag centers. Staff strength has been increased and additional tag stock has been provided to avoid delays. Assistant Commissioners have also visited different M-Tag centers to review facilities and ensure smooth operations.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon directed center staff to speed up the tagging process and ensure that citizens are facilitated during working hours. He said all possible steps are being taken so that vehicle owners can complete the process without difficulty.
ICT Chief Commissioner Irfan Memon said that from January 1, vehicles without M-Tag will be stopped at various entry points of the city. He added that tag readers installed to identify non-tagged vehicles will become operational from the same date. These readers will help authorities detect vehicles that do not comply with the requirement.
Officials further stated that the number of M-Tag centers has been increased to 16 across the city to provide easier access to the public. These centers are operational to meet the rising demand and reduce congestion at a few locations.
The administration has urged citizens to visit the nearest M-Tag center before the deadline to avoid inconvenience after enforcement begins. Authorities said early registration will help reduce rush in the final days and ensure smooth traffic movement once checks are enforced.
The ICT administration has reiterated that no vehicle without M-Tag will be allowed to enter the city once enforcement starts, and citizens are advised to comply within the given timeframe.
