PESHAWAR, Dec 29 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to stop hiring lecturers on an ad hoc basis and will recruit all future teaching staff through the Public Service Commission (PSC).
The decision was made during a meeting of the KP Assembly’s Standing Committee on Higher Education, chaired by MPA Anwar Khan. Officials informed the committee that 208 lecturers (112 male, 96 female) will be regularised from May 26, 2014, subject to the passage of a bill.
The committee also directed the government to reclaim 1,400 kanals of land in Mamukhotki, purchased in 2008 for higher education purposes, if its lease has expired, and submit a report by January 10, 2026.
Additionally, the Higher Education Department was instructed to start BS classes in colleges and universities in remote districts, including Bajaur, Upper Chitral, Upper Dir, Takht Bhai, and Karak, and ensure proper transport facilities for students.
