ISLAMABAD, Dec 29 (APP): A code of conduct has been issued for the Islamabad Bar Association elections, placing limits on campaign activities and setting penalties for violations.
The rules aim to ensure an orderly election process and equal opportunity for all candidates.
According to the code released by Election Board Chairman Qazi Rafiuddin Babar, candidates and their supporters are barred from offering lunch, breakfast, dinner, or high tea during the campaign. The rules also ban visits to lawyers’ homes to seek votes or support. Campaigning through such means will be treated as a violation.
The code further states that the display of weapons on election day is prohibited. Candidates have been directed to remove all campaign banners, panaflexes, and stickers from court premises, including the Katchery and the Judicial Complex, without delay.
Candidates are allowed to run their campaigns through mutual meetings, written communication, and visiting cards. No other forms of outreach have been permitted under the issued rules.
The election board has warned that any breach of the election laws will lead to strict action. A candidate found violating the code may be declared ineligible for the election. In addition, a reference may be sent to the bar authorities for further action.
The election board has called on all candidates and lawyers to follow the code to ensure a fair and transparent election process.
