RAWALPINDI, Dec 29 (APP): Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak on Monday chaired a meeting to review ongoing and proposed development projects of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Rawalpindi.
The meeting was attended by the additional commissioner (coordination), the Managing Director WASA, the assistant commissioner Cantt, the assistant commissioner City and heads of other relevant departments.
Reviewing the progress of WASA schemes, the commissioner directed that all projects should be clearly identified on maps and shared with the concerned departments so that all stakeholders must be aware of the exact locations and nature of development works.
He also stressed that assistant commissioners and relevant departments must remain fully updated on the status of schemes being executed within their respective jurisdictions.
Issuing clear instructions regarding road cutting, the commissioner said the process would be carried out strictly in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
No road cutting would be allowed without a formal no-objection certificate (NOC) from the commissioner’s office. He directed that any department or individual undertaking road cutting must deposit the required challan in advance to ensure immediate restoration and reconstruction of roads upon completion of work.
It was made clear in the meeting that road cutting without an NOC would not be permitted under any circumstances, and violations would result in the registration of FIRs.
The procedure, officials said, would apply uniformly to all entities, including Sui gas, WASA, PTCL and private organisations.
The commissioner further emphasised the need to strengthen inter-departmental coordination in all development projects, minimise inconvenience to the public and ensure timely restoration of roads. He said transparency, discipline and timely completion should remain top priorities for WASA development schemes.
