ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (APP): The Islamabad Traffic Police’s (ITP) “Good Citizen Campaign,” under which law-abiding motorists are rewarded with a special “Good Citizen” sticker, has earned nationwide appreciation for promoting responsible road behaviour and strengthening trust between police and the public.
An ITP spokesperson told APP on Sunday that the campaign was launched under the vision of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and initiated by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (retd) Hamza Humayun to encourage voluntary compliance with traffic laws through recognition rather than punishment.
Under the initiative, motorists who strictly follow traffic rules — including wearing seat belts, possessing valid driving licences, using original number plates and avoiding tinted windows — are rewarded with a “Good Citizen” sticker as a mark of appreciation.
The spokesperson said that citizens holding the sticker are given special facilitation at ITP service centres, where dedicated desks have been established to provide priority services related to licensing and other matters. Lists of such law-abiding citizens have also been displayed at service centres to ensure prompt assistance.
He said the campaign has gained significant attention across the country and received positive feedback on major social media platforms, where users termed it a constructive and people-friendly initiative.
CTO Captain (retd) Hamza Humayun said the campaign focuses on education, awareness and encouragement rather than punishment, adding that motorists who receive the “Good Citizen” sticker may be issued a warning instead of a fine for minor violations.
He added that the campaign would continue, with stickers being distributed daily on different roads, to promote a culture of discipline, respect for traffic laws and cooperation between citizens and the traffic police.
