PFA discards 300 litres adulterated milk, 800 sachets banned gutka

MULTAN, Dec 28 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its crackdown against food adulteration and unsafe food products across the division and discarded 300 litres adulterated milk and 800 sachets banned gutka.
Acting on the directives of the Director General, the Punjab Food Authority, food safety teams conducted inspections in Multan, Khanewal, and Lodhran districts.
During an inspection at a milk shop near Chungi No 22 on Vehari road, Multan, officials detected
sugar adulteration in milk. Laboratory testing further revealed a deficiency of milk fat and natural nutrients, rendering the product substandard and unsafe for consumption.
In another operation, following extensive surveillance, a food safety team led by the Additional Director Operations raided a milk shop in Chak No 14/9-R, Batiyan Wala area of Khanewal. Test reports confirmed that the milk did not meet Punjab Food Authority standards and was declared hazardous due to low nutritional value and lack of essential fat content.
A total of 300 liters of adulterated milk was discarded on the spot. Cases were registered against the shop owners, and both milk shops were sealed till improvements.
Meanwhile, in Lodhran, food safety officers inspected a general store located at Super Chowk and recovered 800 sachets of banned gutka. The toxic product was destroyed immediately, and the store owner was fined Rs 35,000 for violating food safety regulations.
