ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (APP):A 30-year-old man was killed while a police constable was injured in a target killing incident near Shakarparian , triggering a search operation in the area.
The Police official told APP on Sunday that the incident occurred near the Open Air Theatre at Shakarparian when an unidentified armed man opened fire at close range and fled the scene.
The deceased was identified as Sanaullah, son of Ameer Nawab Umar, a resident of district Karak, who was living in Islamabad. He sustained critical bullet injuries and was rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he succumbed to his injuries. The body was shifted to PIMS for post-mortem.
The official said that during the firing, Constable Hussain Shah, who was performing checking duty at the entry point, was also injured when a bullet grazed his right leg. He was shifted to the hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable and out of danger.
According to initial findings, the assailant approached the victim from behind, wearing a shawl, and opened fire about 10 to 15 metres before the entry point. Preliminary investigation suggests personal enmity as a possible motive, though all aspects are being examined.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area, collected forensic evidence and launched a search operation to trace the suspect. Special teams have been constituted to arrest those involved.
Police officials said efforts were underway to identify and apprehend the attacker at the earliest, adding that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the incident.
