Rubina Khalid pays tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on 18th death anniversary

ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 (APP): Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid paid rich tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 18th death anniversary, acknowledging her historic sacrifices for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan.
In a message on Saturday, Senator Rubina Khalid said that all BISP beneficiaries and staff salute Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, whose politics always revolved around the marginalized and deprived segments of society.
She described Shaheed Benazir Bhutto as a symbol of courage, resilience and unwavering commitment to democratic values.
She highlighted that, in line with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision, the BISP is currently empowering over 10 million women by providing them economic independence.
Senator Rubina Khalid noted that BISP had emerged as the world’s largest programme promoting women’s economic empowerment and their inclusion in digital and financial systems.
The BISP chairperson further said that the programme had earned international recognition due to its transparency and effective delivery mechanisms.
She added that under Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision, the Benazir Hunarmand Programme was launched to improve the lives of deserving individuals through skills development.
Addressing the women associated with the Benazir Income Support Programme, Senator Rubina Khalid urged them to be courageous like Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, to raise their voices for their rights, and to play an active role in society.
She reaffirmed the commitment that BISP would continue to draw lessons from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s life and work to make people’s lives easier and more dignified.
