ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested five persons for illegally refilling gas cylinders and separately detained two suspects during a crackdown against illicit liquor manufacturing in Bhara Kahu area.
An official told APP on Saturday that acting on the directives of senior officers and under the supervision of SDPO Bhara Kahu, a police team led by SHO Bhara Kahu Chaudhry Akhtar Zaman, along with ASI Umar Hayat and other officials, conducted a targeted operation in the area.
During the operation, five suspects — identified as Shakir Iqbal, Shabbir Ahmed, Raheel, Moeen Akhtar and Babar Khan — were caught red-handed while illegally refilling gas cylinders. Police registered separate cases against the suspects and shifted them to custody for further legal action.
In a separate action, the police also launched a crackdown against the sale and preparation of illicit liquor. Two suspects involved in manufacturing local liquor were arrested, while two cans of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession.
The official said cases have been registered against all arrested suspects under relevant sections of the law, while further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in these illegal activities.
He added that ICT Police will continue indiscriminate action against illegal gas refilling, narcotics and liquor-related activities to ensure public safety and maintain law and order in the federal capital.
