ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 (APP):On the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders held a Fatiha and Quran Khawani at the People’s Secretariat in Islamabad to honor her memory and lifelong contributions to Pakistan’s democratic struggle.
Talking to APP on Saturday, PPP leader Syed Sabit ul Hassan Bukhari highlighted Bhutto’s unwavering commitment to democracy and her significant sacrifices for the nation. He stated that her legacy and work for the country will continue to inspire future generations, and she remains a symbol of democratic values in Pakistan.
Commenting on the current political scenario, Bukhari noted that the recent change of government through a no-confidence vote exemplifies adherence to constitutional and democratic procedures. He emphasized that all political transitions should occur strictly within the framework of the constitution and democratic norms.
Political analysts pointed out that Pakistan, while established as an Islamic republic, is fundamentally rooted in democracy. They stressed that sustainable development, national stability, and prosperity cannot be achieved through religious identity alone; a strong democratic system is essential. For Pakistan, democracy remains the cornerstone for a secure and prosperous future.
Participants at the ceremony prayed for the late leader’s soul and for the progress and stability of the country, reflecting on Bhutto’s enduring legacy and her vision for a democratic Pakistan.
