PESHAWAR, Dec 26 (APP): The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday conducted a sting operation in the office of Assistant Director Local Government, Mohmand district, resulting in the arrest of two officials caught red-handed while accepting a bribe.
According to FIR, complaints were received regarding demands for bribes in the Assistant Director Local Government’s office. Acting on these, ACE team, in the presence of District Magistrate Iftikhar Ahmad, carried out the trap operation.
During the operation, Stenographer Badshah Gul and Junior Clerk Rahmat Syed were apprehended while accepting Rs 100,000 as bribe. The bribe amount was recovered from the accused.
The office staff had allegedly demanded a total of Rs 300,000. ACE has registered an FIR against both accused and initiated investigations.
Efforts are underway to arrest other involved individuals, the ACE stated.
