HYDERABAD, Dec 26 (APP): Mayor of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) Kashif Ali Shoro has directed the staff to expeditiously complete the ongoing desilting of all of the city’s main drains to allow smooth functioning of the drainage system.
The Mayor’s spokesman G M Buriro informed here on Friday that the desilting of the longest and widest drain in City taluka, Doman Wah, had been started.
According to him, so far the drain’s stretch from Sattar Shah pumping station in Liaquat Colony to the railway crossing at Islamabad intersection had been cleaned.
He told that in the next lag the drain’s part from the railway crossing to the Odion cinema would be desilted.
Doman Wah, which was once a fresh water channel, snakes through several kilometers in densely populated areas of City taluka before emptying out with hazardous wastewater in the Phuleli canal.
