ISLAMABAD, Dec 24 (APP): The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has announced the results of the National Registration Examination (NRE) Step-I for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs), conducted on December 14, 2025.
The examination was organized by the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, which was entrusted with all key stages of the process, including paper setting, result compilation and final declaration, in accordance with PM&DC policy.
According to official statistics, a total of 7,076 candidates—including 6,993 medical and 83 dental graduates—registered for the examination. Of these, 7,012 candidates appeared, while 64 remained absent.
Overall, 1,473 candidates qualified, comprising 1,467 medical and six dental graduates. The pass percentage stood at 21.17% for medical candidates and 7.23% for dental candidates.
Under PM&DC regulations, two NRE examinations are conducted annually for foreign medical and dental graduates seeking registration in Pakistan.
In the previous NRE held on June 25, 2025, 5,035 candidates (4,994 medical and 41 dental) registered. A total of 1,252 medical candidates passed, while no dental candidate qualified.
The medical pass percentage in that examination was 25.26%, and 41 candidates were absent.
PM&DC has uploaded the latest results on its official website, where candidates can check their pass or fail status using their designated roll numbers.
The dates for the NRE Step-II Clinical Examination will be announced shortly. Candidates who successfully clear both steps will be issued provisional PM&DC registration certificates, enabling them to undertake house jobs either in Pakistan or abroad.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and merit, PM&DC stated that the results have been prepared strictly in line with standard policies and international best practices.
The Council also strongly advised parents and students to exercise caution when seeking admission to medical and dental colleges abroad.
It emphasized the importance of choosing recognized and quality institutions, warning that enrollment in substandard or unrecognized colleges jeopardizes students’ professional futures, wastes financial resources, and leads to the loss of valuable time and effort.
PM&DC stressed that responsible educational decisions are crucial to protecting the integrity of the medical profession and ensuring a secure future for aspiring healthcare professionals, given the critical role healthcare providers play in safeguarding human lives.
