Rawalpindi Division achieves 100% wheat sowing target

RAWALPINDI, Dec 24 (APP):The Divisional Wheat Committee on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the achievement of the 100 percent wheat sowing target in the Rawalpindi Division, terming it a positive indicator for agricultural productivity and food security.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Rawalpindi Syed Masood Bukhari and attended by Director Agriculture (Extension) Shahid Iftikhar Bukhari, representatives of ORIC, Air University, committee members, and officers of the district administration.
While briefing the meeting, Director Agriculture Shahid Iftikhar Bukhari said the division had successfully achieved the entire wheat cultivation target set for the current season. He attributed the accomplishment to timely planning, coordinated efforts of the Agriculture Department, and active participation of farmers.
He informed the meeting that, to raise awareness among growers, 1,260 meetings with farmers were held across the division, along with awareness walks to promote best agricultural practices. He added that fertilisers were readily available in markets in ample quantities and were being sold at prices lower than the officially notified rates.
Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Syed Masood Bukhari said agriculture was of vital importance to the national economy, with wheat being a key staple crop. He described the attainment of the 100 percent wheat sowing target in Rawalpindi Division as encouraging and reflective of effective policy implementation.
He said the Punjab chief minister’s farmer-friendly agricultural policies were yielding positive results, enabling farmers to benefit directly and contributing to the overall growth of the agriculture sector.
Bukhari emphasised that the prosperity of farmers was essential for the sustained development of agriculture, which in turn would strengthen the country’s economy.
