MUZAFFARGARH, Dec 24 (APP):More than 400 kilograms of unhygienic meat were discarded during a crackdown by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in Muzaffargarh, exposing blatant violations of food safety laws during an official operation.
According to officials, PFA teams conducted a raid after receiving information about the supply of unhygienic meat. During the operation, 400 kilograms of unsafe meat were destroyed, and one individual was taken into custody.
Authorities said the accused resisted the operation, misbehaved with Food Authority staff, and attempted to erase evidence from mobile phones in an effort to obstruct official proceeding.
Despite strong resistance, the Food Authority team successfully prevented the distribution of the unhygienic meat to the public. Legal action has been initiated, and an application has been submitted for the registration of an FIR on charges of possession of unsafe food and interference in government affairs.
In a statement, the Director General of the Punjab Food Authority said that Food Authority teams were risking their lives to protect public health and ensure the availability of safe food. He added that food safety teams were performing their duties fearlessly and without any pressure.
