RAWALPINDI, Dec 24 (APP):The Child Protection Bureau (CPB) Rawalpindi took 1,209 children into protective custody during 2025 and registered 31 cases against those involved in child labour, exploitation and abuse, a senior official said.
Talking to APP on Wednesday, District Officer Child Protection Bureau Rawalpindi Rao Khalil said the bureau was working across the district on a daily basis for the protection, welfare and rehabilitation of children in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the directions of CPB Chairperson Sarah Ahmed.
He said that during the year, 256 rescue operations were carried out, resulting in 1,209 children being taken into protective custody, while 363 missing or runaway children were traced and reunited with their families.
Rao Khalil said the CPB helpline received 589 calls in 2025 from citizens seeking assistance regarding child labour, exploitation and missing children.
He said 31 cases were registered and suspects arrested for forcing children into begging, labour or abuse. He added that 1,963 children were provided counselling, education and training to support their mental and physical development, rehabilitation and capacity building.
