RAWALPINDI, Dec 23 (APP): National Peace Committee for Interfaith Harmony (NPCIH) Punjab Vice President Sheikh Abdul Waheed on Tuesday said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah always emphasised the importance of the business community’s role in Pakistan’s economic development.
Highlighting social responsibility and the implementation of justice alongside national prosperity, the NPCIH leader, in a statement, said adopting the guiding principles of the Quaid-e-Azam could set Pakistan on a new path of progress even today.
He said the Founder of Pakistan regarded traders as the backbone of economic development and described trade and business as the nation’s “economic lifeline.” He noted that the Quaid-e-Azam encouraged Muslim traders and industrialists to establish banks and shipping companies to form a strong economic structure for the new state.
He said the Quaid-e-Azam advised traders to conduct their business with fairness and honesty towards all, and supported an economic system based on Islamic principles that ensures social justice and equality.
Sheikh Abdul Waheed added that the Quaid-e-Azam desired to see Pakistan among the leading nations in global markets and urged the business community to uphold ethical values and deliver quality products.
He said the Quaid advocated state planning in key sectors and fair wealth distribution to avoid extremes of unrestrained capitalism or communism. In his view, traders were important partners in the reconstruction and development of Pakistan, capable of securing a strong and respectable position for the country among the nations of the world.
