Adulteration mafia faces crackdown as citywide operations continue

LAHORE,Dec 23 (APP):On the orders of Director General(DG) Punjab Food Authority(PFA),extensive crackdown operations were carried out across Thokar Niaz Baig,Ravi road,Gawalmandi,Chungy Amarsidhu and Sheikhupura road under the supervision of the Additional Director General.
During the operations,17 food points and dairy shops,along with 35 suppliers and wholesalers were inspected.
A total of 84,000 liters of milk was checked,while seven food points were fined Rs.200,000 for violations.
For serious breaches of food safety laws,one well-known restaurant and two dairy shops were sealed and cases were registered against the violators.
Authorities also disposed of 60 liters of fake milk,along with a large quantity of substandard spices and prohibited ingredients.
DG PFA Asim Javaid stated that a case was registered after a milk sample failed laboratory testing,while a dairy shop was sealed due to poor management conditions.
He further said that a renowned restaurant located in Gawalmandi was shut down for failing to comply with previous instructions.
The inspection revealed unhygienic kitchen conditions,foul odor,stagnant dirty water on broken floors,filthy freezers,rusted walls and infestation of insects.
Moreover,mandatory records,as well as employees’ medical and training certificates were found missing.
DG PFA emphasized that the Punjab Food Authority remains committed to ensuring the quality of milk,meat and essential food items. He reiterated that zero-tolerance marathon operations against food adulterators were ongoing across the province.
