7-day polio drive conducted successfully in Lahore

LAHORE, Dec 22 (APP): The district administration of Lahore, under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for a polio-free Punjab, successfully completed a seven-day polio vaccination campaign, achieving all targets and administering drops to 2,263,069 children.
The closing meeting, chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Polio Eradication Uzma Kardar and Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza, was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, CEO Health, all Assistant Commissioners, and WHO observers.
The CEO Health briefed that all campaign objectives were met, while WHO observers expressed satisfaction with team performance and noted significant improvement in coverage of previously missed children.
Special Assistant Uzma Kardar praised the dedication of frontline workers, describing them as “our heroes who performed this national duty even in challenging weather conditions.” She emphasized that the endorsement of transparency and quality by international agencies reflects the campaign’s success. She also called on citizens to cooperate fully with government initiatives, stressing that protecting children under five from polio is a shared responsibility.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza highlighted the strict monitoring carried out by all Deputy District Health Officers (DDHOs) in the field and commended the collective efforts of all departments involved. He described the recent campaign as the most successful polio drive ever conducted in Lahore and underlined that eradication of polio is essential for ensuring a safe and healthy future for coming generations.
