QUETTA, Dec 22 (APP): Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Letter of Agreement were signed between the University of Balochistan (UoB) and the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta (MCQ) for improvement in local governance, institutional strengthening and geo-tagging survey on Monday.
According to the press release, this agreement was reached through the Government Innovation Lab of the University of Balochistan under the treaty, a geo-tagging survey of the properties of the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta would be conducted, through which the accuracy, transparency of local government records, urban planning and improvement in revenue could be possible.
The accord includes institutional capacity building, conducting training programs, preparation of standard operating procedures, monitoring and evaluation framework and digital initiatives such as mapping under the Geographic Information System and citizen feedback system.
On this occasion, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Balochistan Prof. Dr. Ghulam Razaq Shahwani, Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Quetta Mr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani, Director Government Innovation Lab Dr. Waheed Noor and Secretary Local Government and Rural Development Department Abdul Rauf Baloch signed the agreement.
Dr. Sanaullah, Director General Engineering and Works, Ghulam Farooq Badini and Chief Metropolitan Officer Nazar Zehri were also present at the ceremony.
The participants termed this contract as a significant step towards modernizing the local government system in Balochistan and effective delivery of public services.
After the ceremony, the guests visited the Government Innovation Labs established at the University of Balochistan, where they were given a detailed briefing on digital governance, data management and modern technology-based initiatives.
The delegation appreciated the performance of the Government Innovation Labs and CERBM and commended the efforts made by the University of Balochistan for research, innovation and improvement in public services.
