PESHAWAR, Dec 19 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday strongly rejected allegations regarding the issuance of election results of the NA-18 Haripur by-election, terming the criticism by a specific group as a failed attempt to exert pressure on the Commission.
In a press release, the ECP dismissed claims made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Shafee Jan that Form-47 was issued from Islamabad instead of by the Returning Officer.
The Commission clarified that Form-47 for the NA-18 Haripur by-election was duly prepared and issued by the Returning Officer.
According to the ECP, the Returning Officer sent Form-47 to the Commission on November 24, 2025 at 3:16 a.m. while the District Returning Officer forwarded the same result at 3:22 a.m.
The Commission uploaded the form on its official website at 4:28 a.m. It was further stated that Forms 48 and 49 were also sent by the Returning Officer to the Commission on November 26, 2025.
The Election Commission emphasized that Form-47, bearing the signatures of the Returning Officer, is available on the Commission’s website.
It added that if any party has objections or complaints regarding the electoral process, the appropriate forum is the Election Tribunal rather than spreading baseless and misleading propaganda.
The ECP warned that it has decided to take strict legal action against such elements in accordance with the law.
