KARACHI, Dec 19 (APP):Senior Minister of Sindh for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that training has begun in Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Malir in Karachi.
He said that working women would be specially encouraged applying for pink scooters across all districts of Karachi.
Sharjeel said that scooter training started in Hyderabad on December 18, and will soon be launched in other cities of Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas.
He explained that the training focuses on safe scooter riding. The objective of the scheme is to promote safe and convenient mobility for women, adding that women’s empowerment remains a top priority of the Sindh government.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that women’s autonomy is linked not only to economic independence but also to social freedom. Without safe transportation facilities, practical empowerment of women is not possible.
He further said that the scooter training program is an important step toward building self-confidence, self-reliance, and practical freedom for women. Both students and working women can benefit from the scheme. For applications and further details, visit smta.sindh.gov.pk.
