RAWALPINDI, Dec 19 (APP):A police constable was arrested after City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani on Friday took strict notice of a social media complaint alleging corruption against him.
Following the complaint, a case was also registered against the constable at the Chaklala Police Station on the orders of the CPO.
‘The cop has been suspended and a departmental charge sheet has been issued against him,’ a Rawalpindi Police spokesman said.
The CPO emphasised that any conduct undermining the dignity of the police force would not be tolerated. ‘Those involved in corruption or abuse of authority will not be spared. Officers must correct their conduct. Anyone who compromises the honour of the department is not one of us. We will ensure strict accountability,’ he added.
The spokesman said misuse of authority or involvement in corrupt practices would be dealt with firmly, in accordance with police regulations.
