RAWALPINDI, Dec 19 (APP):Assistant Commissioner (AC) Pindi Gheb Hafiz Muhammad Zunair Younis on Friday inspected sanitation arrangements across various parts of the Tehsil Pindi Gheb and reviewed measures being taken to improve cleanliness and public health.
According to the RWMC spokesman, the AC was accompanied by Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Manager Operations, Pindi Gheb, Ali Raza Mughal. The inspection covered the government hospital, bus stand, graveyard, mosques, markets and major streets, where the assistant commissioner also sought on-the-spot feedback from citizens regarding sanitation services.
Briefing the assistant commissioner, Mughal said sanitation operations were being carried out uninterruptedly in day and night shifts in line with the directives of RWMC Chief Executive Officer Rana Sajid Safdar to make the city “zero waste”.
He said manual sweeping, waste lifting and door-to-door garbage collection were being ensured throughout the city, while regular water spraying on roads was also underway to help curb smog.
Mughal added that awareness was being created among residents and that citizens were being encouraged to register cleanliness-related complaints through the RWMC helpline 1139 for prompt action.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Hafiz Muhammad Zunair Younis said providing a clean and healthy environment was the administration’s top priority.
“Effective cleanliness arrangements are essential not only for public health but also for the overall beauty and order of the city,” he said.
He appreciated the performance of the RWMC and directed that sanitation operations be maintained continuously, while communication with citizens should be made more effective.
The assistant commissioner also appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration by disposing of waste at designated points and share suggestions, so that Pindi Gheb could be made a clean, orderly and smog-free city.
