National conference on linguistics, literature in digital age held at UoS

SARGODHA, Dec 19 (APP):The Department of English Language and Linguistics, University of Sargodha (UoS), on Friday hosted a national conference titled ‘Wordscapes in the Digital Age: Linguistics, Literature and Society’.
According to the spokesperson for UoS here, Vice Chancellor Government College University Faisalabad, Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Vice Chancellor UoS Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas and Pro Vice Chancellor UoS Prof Dr Masood Sarwar Awan were guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam highlighted the central role of language in personal and national development.
He noted that navigating multiple languages, particularly the transition to English in academic and professional contexts, has long been a challenge.
Stressing the importance of collective effort, he said that embracing technology and adapting to changing global landscapes are vital for expanding markets and bringing meaningful change to the nation.
In his remarks, Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas underscored internationalisation as a key institutional goal of the UoS.
He stated that strong language skills are critical for engagement with the global market, as they significantly reduce communication barriers and enhance academic and professional collaboration at the international level.
Prof Dr Ijaz Asghar Bhatti, Chairperson of the Department of English Language and Linguistics, stated that the conference is hosting comprehensive and focused discussions on contemporary linguistic practices, emerging trends in digital literature, and the social impact of modern communication technologies.
