ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP):Textile exports witnessed an increase of 2.73 percent during the first five months of the fiscal year (2025-26) as compared to the same months of last year (2024-25).
The overall textile exports from the country were recorded at $7.815 billion during July-November 2025-26 against the exports of $7.607 billion during July-November 2024-25, the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said.
The textile commodities that contributed to trade growth included knitwear, the exports of which increased by 5.74 percent to $2298.700 million during the months under review, as compared to the exports of $2173.933 million last year, the export of bed wear surged by 4.95 percent to $1389.487 million from $1324.011 million.
The other commodities that witnessed trade growth included tents, canvas, tarpaulin, the export of which increased by 17.31 percent to $62.432 million from $53.221 million and ready-made garments by 5.91 percent to $1786.920 million from $1687.277 million.
Similarly, the export of made-up articles (excluding towels and bedwear) increased by 1.42 percent to $331.524 million from $326.896 million, raw cotton rose by 100 percent to $2.606 million from zero export last year, and all other textile materials up by 3.88 percent to $318.122 million from $306.228 million.
The textile commodities that witnessed negative trade growth included cotton yarn, the export of which declined by 1.15 percent from $302.366 million to $298.900 million,
Similarly, the export of cotton cloth also decreased by 12.24 percent to $815.849 million to $715.956 million while the export of yarn other than cotton yarn dipped by 1.14 percent from 14.333 million to $ 14.170 million.
The export of art, silk and synthetic textile declined by 0.16 percent from $161.406 million to $161.151 million whereas the export of towel decreased by 1.45 percent from 441.742 million to $435.338 million.
Meanwhile, on a Year-on-Year (YoY) basis, the textile exports from the country witnessed a decrease of 2.57 percent during November 2025 as compared to the corresponding month of last year.
The textile exports in November 2025 were recorded $1,423.576 million against the exports of $1,461.070 million in November 2024.
On a Month-on-Month (MoM) basis, the textile exports also decreased by 11.94 percent in November 2025 when compared to the exports of $ $1,616.576 million in October 2025, according to PBS data.
