MULTAN, Dec 18 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed two canteens at Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan on Thursday.
During an inspection, officials found serious violations of the food safety laws, including the use of China salt and rotten vegetables in food preparation. Expired food items and insect-infested raw materials were also recovered from the premises. The teams further observed the absence of clean drinking water, unhygienic washing areas, and overall poor sanitation arrangements.
In view of these violations, the PFA sealed both canteens till improvements. DG PFA Asim Javed stated that strict legal action would be taken against those supplying unsafe and substandard food to students.
He urged citizens to report any food safety complaints to the Punjab Food Authority helpline 1223.
