Skilled manpower Punjab govt’s top priority: Chaudhry Shafay

LAHORE, Dec 17 (APP):Provincial Minister for Industries Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said on Wednesday that provision of skilled manpower was top priority of the Punjab government.
Efforts are being made in line with the vision ‘Hunarmand Bano, Rozgar Kamao’ of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, as sustainable industrial growth as economic development depend on a technically competent workforce.
He was addressing the medal award ceremony, organised by the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) at a local hotel. The ceremony was attended by members MPAs, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal, Secretary Skill Development Nadir Chatta, LCCI executive committee members, owners of various renowned companies, the PBTE members and a large number of students along with their parents.
Provincial Minister said that technical education institutions are playing a vital role in ensuring the availability of job-ready human resources to meet the growing needs of the industry.
He appreciated the performance of PBTE in promoting quality technical education by arranging such events and congratulated the medal-winning students, advising them to utilize their skills for the progress of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President stated that skilled manpower is dire need of the industry, adding that business community is fully prepared to provide employment opportunities to diploma holders. He said that business community would maintain close liaison with PBTE to establish an effective mechanism for job placement of technical pass-outs, particularly Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) graduates.
Secretary Skill Development Nadir Chatta stated that Punjab Government is taking robust measures to empower youth with skills and provide them with employment opportunities. He said that the technical education and training system under the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) is being further strengthened, with examinations designed to accurately assess students’ capabilities. These efforts align with the government’s vision of equipping students with modern skills and quality education, enabling youth to play a meaningful role in the country’s development.
Addressing the ceremony, PBTE Chairperson Sara Rashid briefed participants on PBTE’s reforms, quality enhancement initiatives, and industry linkage programs. She reiterated PBTE’s resolve to ensure that technical graduates are equipped with practical skills in line with modern industrial standards.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, medals were distributed among position holders in various technical disciplines. The event also witnessed the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between PBTE and different renowned companies to provide employment opportunities to three-year Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) pass-outs.
