LAHORE, Dec 17 (APP):More than 871,000 children were administered polio drops in Lahore during the first two days of the ongoing anti-polio campaign, as World Health Organization (WHO) observers expressed satisfaction with the performance of field teams and district administration.
An important review meeting of the anti-polio campaign was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Chief Executive Officer of Health, all Assistant Commissioners and representatives of the WHO, where progress and targets of the campaign were reviewed in detail.
Briefing the meeting, the CEO Health informed that a total of 871,976 children had been vaccinated against polio in the city during the first two days of the campaign. WHO representatives appreciated the efforts of the district administration, field staff and supervisors, and expressed complete satisfaction with the ongoing operations.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza directed officials to strictly minimize “Not Available” cases by ensuring the vaccination of all eligible children through effective engagement with parents. He emphasized 100 percent polio vaccination coverage for children under five in all public and private schools and ordered special teams to remain deployed at city entry and exit points and major transit locations.
He said the successful implementation of the Chief Minister Punjab’s ‘Zero Polio Vision’ was the district administration’s top priority and warned that no negligence would be tolerated. He also instructed Assistant Commissioners to conduct field visits, monitor teams, and ensure transparent reporting.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to citizens to cooperate fully with vaccination teams to protect children from lifelong disability.
