ISLAMABAD, Dec 17 (APP):Legal ID Foundation will host its third International Migrants Day Event 2025 on December 18 (Thursday) at a local hotel in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Barrister Zulfiqar Ali Syed.
The event aims to highlight the complex challenges faced by migrants, with a particular focus on addressing irregular migration, promoting safe and skilled migration, and initiating a national dialogue towards the formulation of a comprehensive migration policy for Pakistan.
Distinguished guests expected to attend include Sohail Khawaja, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development; Qamar Zaman, Deputy Director, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA); Shahida Gilani, Programme Officer, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC); and Arbab Saeed, Settlement Expert at Settlement Experts Private Limited, among others.
Talking to APP, Fiza, General Secretary of the Legal ID Foundation, said that art has the power to convey human suffering and social challenges in ways that policy documents often cannot. She highlighted the national art exhibition themed “Every Journey Carries a Dream: Let It Be Safe” as a key feature of the event.
Barrister Zulfiqar Ali Syed, Chairman of the Legal ID Foundation, told APP that the purpose of the event is to initiate a national conversation on safe, legal, and dignified migration.
“Besides this, the event seeks to discourage irregular migration through awareness-raising and access to credible information,” he added.
The event will comprise four key components: a national art exhibition, a panel discussion, an international job expo, and public engagement activities. To enhance the overall experience, food stalls and light music will also be part of the program, creating an inclusive and engaging environment for participants from all walks of life.
