ABBOTTABAD, Dec 17 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram on Wednesday said the district administration was fully committed to protecting public life and property, preserving the environment and ensuring effective service delivery, warning that no leniency would be shown in cases of illegal mining, security violations or actions endangering public safety.
He was chairing a series of meetings and inspections to review district service delivery, law and order, environmental protection and public complaints, where he directed officials to take immediate and practical measures and ensure strict implementation of the law across the district.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner chaired a meeting of the District Liaison Committee to address issues faced by local residents and lease holders in the Tarnawai mining area. Complaints received during a recent open court in Tarnawai were reviewed in detail, including problems arising from mining activities, damage to houses due to blasting, blasting near populated areas and illegal mining.
The deputy commissioner directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief and Human Rights) to visit the mining area with a team and submit a detailed report within one week. He also ordered the immediate closure of all illegal mining activities, issuance of notices against violators and strict legal action in accordance with the law. Instructions were issued to ensure vehicle weight checks on C&W roads to prevent accidents.
In a separate development, a meeting of the District Intelligence Coordination Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram to review security and law and order.
The meeting discussed intelligence coordination, protection of life and property, repatriation of Afghan nationals, ongoing anti-encroachment operations, public complaints related to phosphate mining, action against land grabbers, illegal use of drones, pressure horns, tinted windows, high-intensity LED lights in vehicles and other key issues.
The meetings were attended by senior district officials, police and law enforcement representatives, officials from Mines and Minerals, C&W Buildings and Highways, Wildlife Department, Industries Department, lease holders and representatives of local communities. The district administration reaffirmed its resolve to ensure public safety, curb illegal activities and improve service delivery across Abbottabad.
