When contacted, a spokesperson of the varsity told APP that the impressive 20% upsurge reflected the university’s proactive strides in infrastructure development, efficient waste & water management, adaptive mobility and enriched sustainability through focused education and research driven by an unyielding will & resolve to attained the prominence in an exceptionally competitive environment where 23 additional universities at national level, 194 more across the Asian region & 268 new institutions joining globally in 2025 so as to uphold its stature as an indefatigable and vanguardian torchbearer of environmental commitment and exemplary green governance amid an increasingly polycentric & intensifying global competitive landscape.
The MUST under the dynamic leadership of Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI(M), Vice Chancellor MUST has achieved a significant milestone by emphatically demonstrating its strong commitment to environmental sustainability, earning notable position in the UI Green Metric World University Rankings 2025.
The VC MUST commended the Quality Enhancement Cell, particularly Prof. Engr. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber, Director QEC & Dr. Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Director along with their team for their invaluable contributions. He lauded MUST for upholding its top position in AJ&K amid increasing competition and reaffirmed the university’s strong commitment in leading green initiatives and building an eco-friendly learning environment.
“MUST remains the only university in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to feature in this prestigious global ranking that emphasizes sustainability. In 2025 MUST secured 1st position in AJ&K, 75th in Pakistan, 745th in Asia & 1235th globally. While the University also held the top spot in AJ&K last year and achieved higher national, regional & international positions, the number of participating universities increased significantly across Pakistan, Asia and worldwide”, the spokesman asserted.
“This surge in competition affected the rankings of many institutions yet MUST retained its leading position in AJ&K and maintained strong, competitive standings nationally and internationally”, he added.
