CM approves promotion structure for traffic wardens, officers

LAHORE, Dec 16 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a comprehensive promotion structure for traffic wardens, enabling their promotion to Grade-16 Senior Traffic Wardens (STW) and Grade-17 Traffic Officers (TO).
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, the approval of the new framework has introduced clear career progression, seniority-based promotions and examinations through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), bringing a wave of satisfaction among traffic wardens and officers.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that promotions to the next grade would be carried out through PPSC examinations. He added that 50 per cent promotions would be made on the basis of seniority, while the remaining 50 per cent would be granted through the PPSC examination. He said the examinations for promotion of senior traffic wardens and traffic officers would be conducted soon.
The spokesperson said the upper age limit for appearing in the promotion examination for STW had been fixed at 50 years, while officers up to 52 years of age would be eligible to appear for promotion to the post of TO. He added that officers with a clear service record, completion of relevant courses and at least a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second division would be eligible to appear in the examination.
It is pertinent to mention that the government of Punjab approved the summary forwarded by IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar to ensure fast-track promotions of traffic wardens.
