LAHORE, Dec 16 (APP):In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab and Inspector General of Police Punjab, Layyah Police have launched a comprehensive traffic awareness and enforcement campaign aimed at promoting road safety and reducing traffic accidents across the district.
According to spokesperson, the campaign is being carried out under the leadership of District Police Officer (DPO) Layyah, Hassan Javed Bhatti, who said that Layyah has become the only district in Punjab where police have distributed more than 200 helmets free of cost among students, including both male and female, media representatives, lower-ranking police officials and members of the general public.
He said the initiative has been widely appreciated by citizens and is being described as a practical step towards saving precious human lives by encouraging the use of safety gear.
As part of the campaign, police officers are conducting daily traffic awareness seminars in educational institutions, educating students about traffic rules, the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, and the dangers of over-speeding and one-wheeling. So far, seminars have been held in 108 educational institutions across the district.
In addition, traffic police are distributing traffic awareness pamphlets at various checkpoints on a daily basis, while flex banners carrying updated traffic laws have been installed at cities, towns and major intersections to enhance public awareness.
DPO Hassan Javed Bhatti, along with DSPs, SHOs and other police officers, personally visited major highways and intersections to distribute pamphlets and encourage citizens to strictly follow traffic laws. Police officials said the campaign would continue in the future to promote a safe, disciplined and responsible traffic culture in Layyah district.
