PESHAWAR, Dec 16 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Department has decided to register handcart (street vendors) across the province and include them in the tax net to increase revenue.
According to official sources on Tuesday, all local government institutions have been directed to complete the registration of handcart vendors within two weeks, after which they will be formally brought into the tax system.
The decision was taken during an important meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government, Mina Khan Afridi, where key matters related to urban management and public facilities were discussed.
It was decided that the Director General of the Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar, along with all Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) across the province, will conduct a comprehensive survey of handcarts within their respective jurisdictions within 15 days.
Sources said that along with completing registration, the number and locations of handcart vendors will also be identified to ensure they are included in the tax net in a fair, transparent and easy manner.
The meeting emphasized that the purpose of registration is not only to enhance revenue but also to ensure safe, open and well-organized public spaces for citizens.
