BEIJING, Sept 9 (APP):A welcome reception was organized for around 50 Pakistani students who got admission in various disciplines for the current academic year at China’s top Tsinghua University here on Sunday.
Speaking as chief guest at the reception organized by Pakistan All Students Association (PASA), Education Attache from Pakistan Embassy, Suleman Mahsud expressed the confidence that Pakistani students would not only work hard to achieve their goal of high education but also play positive role to enhance image of Pakistan.
He hoped these students would participate actively in the further development of our motherland after completing their education in China.
He also thanked the Chinese government as well as the university for awarding a large number of scholarships to Pakistani students.
In his address, Deputy Director, International student’s office at Tsinghua University Zou Nan said the university had extended a merit-based scholarships to the brilliant students from Pakistan.
He pointed out that Pakistani students were the largest group of overseas students at Tsninghua University and informed this year the university recieved more than 1,000 applications from Pakistan this year. In addition to the new students, upto 200 Pakistanis were studying in Tsinghua University.
President, (PASA) Muhammad Fahad, a Ph.D. student stressed upon the students to pay full attention to their studies and also spare time for extra-curricular activities to promote Pakistani culture and history among the Chinese and foreign students.
Later, Abdul Ghaffar, a Ph.D. student in Environmental Science pointed out that after the launch of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), China was welcoming more Pakistani students in top universities and this education exchange would further bring the all-weather friends closer.
